HTC Velocity - 4G for Europe (HOORAYY!)

This is why we can’t have nice things! Wait, no, that’s now what I wanted to say. I will rephrase that one. You living in the US sure have it nice, with your 4G LTE networks rushing to get you great connection speeds as well as all the data plans, but us Europeans, we were left behind a touch. However, HTC has been thinking about the Old Continent and now with the HTC Velocity 4G we have the first 4G smartphone in Europe.

The HTC Velocity 4G LTE will be coming to the largest smartphone market here in Europe – Germany. Vodafone Germany is bound to release the device on its 4G network. The HTC Velocity 4G managed to be the first 4G smartphone in Australia as well, where it was launched on the local network Telstra. Now if you have been thinking about picking one of these beasts, then you will have to make sure that you are in an area with 4G coverage. This is because the device will be sold only in areas which has 4G connectivity. The goal of the German branch of Vodafone is to use LTE connectivity to replace DSL connections in some areas.

In terms of specs the HTC Velocity 4G LTE comes in with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5 inch qHD display (that’s 540 x 960 pixels) and powering it all is a 1620mAh battery. Seeing as a ton of 4G devices have issues because of the strain the 4G radio puts on the battery, I’m rather curious to see how well the Velocity stands in terms of battery life considering the large display and the 4G radio inside. We might just see the HTC Velocity 4G LTE MAXX come out a few months after it… Alas, if you are looking for some 4G action in Germany, the Velocity is coming in hot!
