Well as you just saw, it HAD a name, but it’s like calling your cat Beatrice, it just won’t work out and it’s creepy as hell. I’m pretty sure that Sony had a small meeting and decided to drop the name Kumquat (just say it loudly!) and went ahead for something more “user-friendly”.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia U seems to be the last device which still showed up with the Ericsson branding. That’s the last “hooray” the company will be making under this umbrella until Sony takes over the whole deal it seems. The Sony Ericsson Xperia U is coming in as a solid mid-range device, so if you don’t wish to spend too much money on a new device, this might be what you’re looking for.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia U is coming in with a 3.5 inch qHD display, a 1GHz dual-core processor and a 5 MP main camera on the back. The rumors point that we’ll be taking a sniff at it (I keep thinking that Kumquat is actually like… a smell, not an Android smartphone) later on in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. If you’re into this sort of stuff, stay tuned!
